Mission Statement

Demo Submission Policy:

TAIGA records accepts sound demos in the form of vinyl, CDs, cassettes and downloads. We also accept visual portfolios from individuals who wish to have their images considered for use in record packaging designs. In both cases, please e-mail info@taigarecords.com before sending any physical items or e-mailing any large files.

Distribution:

TAIGA records is exclusively distributed in North America by Forced Exposure.

We are also distributed in Europe by Metamkine.

Mission Statement:

Launched in Minneapolis during the winter of 2007, the mission of TAIGA records is to thrive despite a harsh climate for physical media just as conifers stand up to the elements in the sub-arctic forests from which we borrow our name. In a world floating towards digital downloads, the purpose of TAIGA is to archive in the vinyl format. Vinyl is resistant to the evolution of ways in which captured audio is replicated and distributed today. It also offers the largest graphic area and a landscape view of the vibrations.

Our vinyl-only spirit is strengthened by a commitment to artists’ projects, series and concepts, consistently presenting them through from beginning to end so that the releases are cohesive documents as a whole. We reinforce this idea by paying special attention to the visual aspects of the release, using deluxe and/or custom packaging that best represents the sounds contained within. Special editions are produced for every release and only available to customers that order directly from us because this is one reason we have and always will enjoy ordering direct from labels.

Although we refuse to subscribe to any standards of genre, every release we present will require attentive listening to be fully appreciated which vinyl commands as one medium that is not successfully transportable during playback. For maximum sound quality and surface quietness, our releases are all mastered direct to metal, pressed on heavyweight virgin-vinyl and packaged in poly-lined paper sleeves. With pressing plates being pulled directly from the carved copper surface, thick pressings to insure flatness and pure vinyl compound, we strive to scatter the highest quality vinyl releases possible.
